Meet Polyana
“Bridging research, design, and policy to tell better stories — and build better systems”
Polyana De-Oliveira is a public health communicator, researcher, and designer with a deep commitment to making complex health and social issues accessible, engaging, and actionable. With over nine years of experience across clinical, academic, and government settings — and a Master of Science in Public Health and Health Systems from the University of Waterloo — she brings a unique blend of policy fluency, data analysis, and visual storytelling to each of her projects.
Throughout her career, Polyana has worked to ensure that the voices of underrepresented communities — including Indigenous populations and Northern public health stakeholders — are reflected in the policies, programs, and funding decisions that affect them. Her work at the Public Health Agency of Canada and across provincial initiatives has focused on translating evidence into impact, whether through knowledge mobilization strategies, service evaluations, or cross-sector collaborations.
Equally comfortable with spreadsheets and storyboards, Polyana leverages her strengths in information design to communicate research and policy insights in ways that resonate. She has created infographics, presentations, social media campaigns, and reports that make data not only digestible but also deeply meaningful for frontline staff, decision-makers, and the public. She is especially interested in the role that visual communication plays in trust, equity, and engagement.
A passionate advocate for systems change, Polyana brings curiosity, creativity, and compassion to her work, always asking how we can better connect evidence with lived experience and how communication can help drive sustainable improvements in health and well-being.
